US Youth Soccer’s TOPSoccer (The Outreach Program for Soccer) program is a free, community-based recreational sports program for young athletes with intellectual, emotional, or physical disabilities. TOPSoccer provides children with diverse abilities developmentally appropriate opportunities to play soccer in a structured environment that is safe, fun, supportive, and inclusive. BYSA offers Fall and Spring TOPSoccer programs.
TopSoccer is designed to meet the needs of children aged 4-14 years and focuses on gross motor activities, soccer skills, and small-sided games. The program is geared toward player development, and athletes are grouped by ability, not just age, so that they can develop at their own pace and participate alongside others with similar abilities.
Each participant is assigned a volunteer, trained ‘Buddy’ who is typically a little older and neurotypical. This Buddy works with their player individually to ensure they are safe, engaged, supported, and having fun.
